HIS ROYAL BADNESS...

...is back...and back with a vengance!

...my, my, my...this CD is rocking my socks off...let's just put it this way, school is in session, and Prince is at the head of the class...bringing us back the groove...the funk...the old-school R&B...and most of the current popular music posers can only sit back and listen and gape in awe and wonder and wish they could write and arrange even one song...just one song...that could groove like this entire CD does.

It's name? Befittingly...Musicology. Download it...buy it at your local Wrecka Stow...whatever. If you want to remember what music used to be like...created in freedom...without the system looking over the artist's shoulder and telling him or her what to play or write...get this CD!

Don't worry...this isn't the Prince you may remember...no sexual bravado...just love songs about fidelity, love and devotion to his wife...references to his Lord and Savior...and party jams that you can't sit still to.

...here's a sample...open your textbooks to chapter "F" for "Funk" and read along...

---Musicology---

Wish I had a dollar
4 every time they say
Don't U miss the feeling
Music gave ya
Back in the day?

Let's groove, September
Earth, Wind and Fire
Hot Pants by James
Sly's gonna take U higher
Minor keys and drugs
Don't make a rollerskate jam
Take UR pick- turntable or a band?

---A Million Days---

U're the perfect picture of what love should look like
And I want 2 be ur frame

I didn't back then, but I do know now
That wherever U r is home

---Life 'O' the Party---

Everybody can smell this funk u'all
Even down in Atlanta, GA
Everybody-even Dre 'n them
Know it's OK
We ain't trippin' U'all
On this special day
We just called 2 let U know
U better not come if U can't stay

We gonna have us a party
All r welcome 2
We ain't down with nobody
That don't party like we do
Once we get it started
We got 2 go all night
This is the life 'o' the party
We gonna do it right

---Dear Mr. Man---

Ain't no sense in voting
Same song with a different name
Might not be in the back of the bus
But it sho' feel just the same
Ain't nothin' fair about welfare
Ain't no assistance in AIDS
Ain't nothin' affirmative about ur actions
'Til the people get paid!

---Reflection---

2 sevens 2gether
Like time indefinite
Try 2 catch the glass
B4 it falls
Without a frown
Can U turn up the stereo?
I wanna play U this old song
It's about love

Did we remember to water the plants 2day?
I 4got to look up at the moon because
I was 2 busy
I was 2 busy lookin' at U, baby

Still, it's nice 2 know
That when r bodies wear out
We can get another
What does that one thing have 2 do
With the other one?
I don't know
I was just thinking about my mother

U know what?
Turn the stereo back down
Ain't nothing worse than an ole' worn-out love song
Tell me do U like my hair this way?
Remember all the way back in the day...

When we would comapre whose afro was the roundest?

Mirror tiles
Above the bed
Fishing nets and posters
All over the walls
Sometimes I just wanna go
Sit on the stoop and
Play my guitar
And just watch all
All the cars go by

...nuff said for tonight...I'm letting myself fall to sleep with this jam on repeat...

Peace out, yo.
